Hi Everyone, I just opened myspace page. I have it on private right now. I heard very scary stories about myspace. I do hear good things about Facebook, and it seems everyone has a Facebook account. Eventually I'll open an account there.
Warmest regards, Joan

Here I am ...WOW, I have soooo much to learn. Just learned how to get a video into my blog; next I need to figure out how to use a webcam and am waiting for the Flip Mino Doug recommended in SS2. Now, THAT's probably going to be hilarious. Is there a place to post a "First Ever Video"?

Man, so sorry to hear that Jack.

You are unfortunately RIGHT ON THE MONEY when it comes to MySpace. They are HORRIBLE when it comes to customer service and random deletions of MySpacer's pages without explanation, recourse or recovery.

In the nearly 3 years that I've been on MySpace, I've been very fortunate to not have that happen to me, though I do know that it is always a possibility.

Like you said, it is important to be seen on the different social media sites and make sure, for sure, that all of your eggs are not in one basket...

And most importantly, make sure you are connect in more ways than one online. Email, Skype, whatever. But is one more reason I love Facebook over MySpace. Random deletion of profiles will not happen.

Thanks for sharing your unfortunate experience, and the wisdom Jack!

Timothy, thanks for your leadership here. I wanted to share something about MySpace and any service for that matter. I had heard the horror stories, one from a colleague who had thousands of friends where MySpace simply shut him off without anything more than a generic explanation. Thousands of friends were gone there.

Well, I always thought he may have been doing something that caused that, until it happened to me last week. I have never experienced a less professional way of dealing with customers. I received a notice that my site violated their terms and that it was closed off. I invested close to two years into the site and connections, although I have not used for a couple months. I shared my faith probably more than anything on my site and never used the automated tools to build friends lists, etc.

So, they shut me down last week and when I asked for a specific explanation, they said your information is gone and you are welcome to start from scratch. I am sharing with folks as it is important to have profiles on dozens of services and never build around one social community or tool that you have absolutely no control over. I can also share that I have probably messaged people on MySpace about 10 times over a two year period so I was truly not using it to market yet.

Unreal customer service, or lack thereof. It is no wonder that Facebook and soon to be others will take the lead in this space. Spread out your presence online. Will I be back on MySpace, I have yet to determine that :) Have a blessed weekend everyone.
