There are 4 kinds of Social Media Zone Players-
1) Visual- love videos and how things look and appear..
2) Audible- love to sit and listen to Ipods and mp3s and discuss things.
3) Emotional- LOVE connecting with people and building relationships.
4) Professor- online to learn-period.
These are also the people that you will find online. And you need to connect with each differently.
Visuals- connect and comment on their incredible video and how wow it was.
Audibles- connect and give them suggestions to listen to and find out WHAT they listen to.
Emotional- Talk about how great it is going to be getting to know each other.
Professor- Ask what they are reading and learning and then ask what they would suggest for you to learn- or suggest a blog or website with great content.
Ask them- "What is your favorite part about being online- or social media?"
Comfortable Conversation- that is the secret to start the drawing towards you process.
What is your style? Mine? probably professor with a secondary Emotional.

I am going to guess you can have more than one for the same person. I would say for me I am mostly #1.

These seem to closely reflect the four main personality types as well.
Let's see - Professor = Analyticals (also called Compliants - Comply with Rules) or Greens
Audible= Feeler, Steady relaters or Yellows
Emotional = Influencer, Otter, Blues
Visuals = Dominants, Lions, Reds
Thinking out loud here b/c one also has a learning style mixed in there.

Well, I guess I would have to say that I'm a bit of a "mutt" when it comes to the social media style.

I am mostly Visual #1 with a lessor mix of #3 and #4. Nothing gets through to me better than a good, informative and professional video where I get to connect with that person. Overly produced videos with green screens, etc. go over to the marketing/selling side for me.
